Description David Gross CLA 2012-01-10 18:21:13 EST
Build Identifier: Either 2.6.2 or 3.2.5 or 3.6.2 The RD/z product has 15 choices.

Right-click any data set name in Rational Developer for z series, in the RSE view.
However, the copied text includes a trailing end-of-line byte. It should not.
1. Edit any JCL file with LPEX. In it could be a line such as this
   //FOOBAR  DD  DSNAME=OBAMA.FILE1,DISP=SHR
2. The goal is to pick a different dsname from the RSE and replace. Goal is
   //FOOBAR  DD  DSNAME=MCCAIN.FILE2,DISP=SHR
   In the rse, right-click the data set MCCAIN.FILE2, then click COPY.
   In the mouse buffer, the string MCCAIN.FILE2 wrongly contains a CR at its end.
3. In the original line, delete the string OBAMA.FILE1.
4. With the cursor located just after the equal sign, press ctrl-V to paste.
5. An unwanted carriage return is inserted thus producing these two lines and an obvious syntax error
//FOOBAR  DD  DSNAME=MCCAIN.FILE2
,DISP=SHR
Our customer doesn't want that terminating CR or CR/LF to be included when
doing the Copy from the RSE view; or from any view.

patch to only append newline if there's previous text

I believe the problem here is that, for text-transfer, a newline is always being appended after a line of text when the newline should only be appended if a previous line of text exists.

I've committed the patch to the HEAD stream. Does the patch need to be backported?
Comment 3 David Gross CLA 2012-01-12 15:41:32 EST
When will customer using the RD/z product notice that the fix is in force?

As far as I know, RDz won't be picking up anything from the HEAD stream this year so, in order to get this into the product this year it would need to be backported at least to the R3_2_maintenance stream.
