When using Vex with Ubuntu 11.10 (Unity), the content assist selection box is unreadable for items other than the first one.  If you move up and down the list, you can read the items, but only the highlighted item.

I added the missing implementation of getForeground().

@Dave: Could you please check, if it works now on Ubuntu?
