Description Mark Macdonald CLA 2011-12-09 16:44:43 EST
Bug 366245, comment 7 suggests having a "Go Up" action for working with a treeless navigator. But even if we keep the tree navigator, I think Go Up is worth having.

Ideally it would have a keyboard shortcut (Alt+UpArrow ?).

fixed.
I used Alt+Up. In trees with keyboard support, alt+up will cursor up the tree to the level above where you are. If we were to add keyboard support for navigating the tree (for accessibility) we might revisit this keybinding. But right now it seems conceptually similar.

I started to think that other views (such as search results) might want to use this to mean go up in the breadcrumb. But we can't generically define that binding in the breadcrumb because some breadcrumbs will take you to a completely different page (ie, go to navigator from editor, etc.). It would only make sense when you knew that the breadcrumb was keeping you in place.

So I decided to open that can of worms for now.
