Description Monte Rudisill CLA 2011-12-09 09:47:12 EST
Build Identifier: 20100617-1415

I'm requesting an enhancement to implement the ability to split editor windows, as seen in almost ALL current day editors.

I don't mean to sound rash, but this is a bit ridiculous in today's day-and-age that there is no ability to split an editor window.

This provides the ability to look at 2 chunks of code at the same time. While i do alot of java development with Eclipse, and enjoy the environment, it is very cumbersome to track/evaluate related code segments.

This should be a very easy enhancement.

I thank you Sirs :)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open editor
2. try looking at 2 chunks of code simultaneously.
3.

You can get part way there by using Window>New Editor to clone the current editor, and then dragging the tab underneath. The New Editor will also be on the editor tab context menu in 4.2 but not yet, pending bug 317207

Full support for splitting the editor within one editor is still not done, see bug 8009
