Description PD Philipp CLA 2011-12-02 07:29:18 EST
Build Identifier: 2.6.2

Problem: In some reports there's a need for text to be displayed vertically or in a other angle than level. BIRT can display text in labels only horizontally without an option to define a rotation angle.

Proposed solution: In the properties area of a label, also the rotation angle should be possible to modify (similar to the labels in a chart, where it's already implemented).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Since it is a new requirement, there are no steps to reproduce.

In the source there is a tutorial for creating a report item extension. The example builds a rotated text report item. You could use it.
Here is the write up on it. You could download the tutorials build the rotated text item and add it to your BIRT install.

Thanks for your comment and the link to the tutorial, Jason. Nevertheless we wonder why it is not planned to offer this as standard in BIRT. As we imagine there are quite a few occasions where text rotation is needed. Is the demand for this low? And are there plans to offer this in some later releases?
Many thanks for your answer.

I am not certain if there are any plans yet to add this to the default install. I will check with the team.
