Have not tried Indigo SR1 yet, but Juno M3 does not automatically download sources when I open .class file in the editor. Explicit sources download works for the same artifact, so the problem is likely related to the hack-ish way m2e hooks into editor framework.

The problem affects both 3.8M3 and 4.2M3, but source code download works as expected with 3.7SR1 (same m2e version in all cases). This seems to imply breaking changes in 3.8/4.2 platform, but I still need to investigate further.

Fixed. Regression was caused by JDT UI fix for bug 360642.
