If a sub folder in a page(navigator, git log and search result) is dived into, we should put the folders name as the place holder of the search box(e.g. Search bundles). We should also change the tool tip to something like : "Type a keyword or wild card to search in bundles". By this user will get enough hint where they are searching in and what they can search by. If the folder name is too long(e.g. org.eclipse.orion.client.core) we will just show a shorter name as "org.eclipse..." in the place holder but still the full name in the tool tip.
In all cases other than the description, we will just use "Search root" as the default place holder.

Combining comments from John and Susan(bug 359739 comment 10 and bug 359739 comment 11),I will: 1.Make the search box wider(but still, if the folder name gets too long we still need ...). 2.Do not show root in the place holder. 3.Make the tool tip simpler. In the root case we still want to say "Search in root".
Make the tool tips and the place holder simpler.
"Make the search box wider" is addressed in bug 349634 for general laout purpose. Closing this bug now.
