All perspectives were lost when I migrated from 3.8 to 4.2. Had to configure everything again.

The 4.1 readme states the following:
"User interface session state may be discarded when a workspace is upgraded."

http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/development/readme_eclipse_4.1.html

Don't believe there are plans to change this for 4.2 at the moment.

We might be able to write a cheap workbench.xml to model translator but resources aren't set aside in M4 or M5 to look into this.
