Hello,

I posted this on http://jira.appcelerator.org/browse/APSTUD-3731 and they advised this is Eclipse behaviour so I am reposting here. I am using Aptana so don't know the Eclipse editor so I hope the following makes sense. Screenshots are available at the appcelerator URL above.

When I open a new window from the window -> new window menu item, the new window keeps the same theme that I've set but doesn't clone the window layout that I can see but instead it opens up with the default layout. This is not what I would expect to see happen because every time I start the project I see the changed layout so up until this point didn't ever need to know about the default layout vs the one I can see. It seems wrong for it to be necessary just to open a new window (from a user perspective)

I have been told by Aptana that if I save my current layout then it will use that for a new window (see comments on above link - this is correct). However, that is a bit obscure and requires me to know about layouts just to get expected behaviour. So the wishlist is either

a) when changing a layout, you are prompted whether or not you want to save that layout (e.g. at the close of the editor) or
b) when creating a new window, it asks if you want the default layout, or the one you are viewing or
c) changes to the layout are saved automatically so I don't need to care about it or
d) it just assumes you want to use the layout you can see, not the saved layout (so behaves as expected without needing to understand the ins and outs of layouts)

My preference would be c) or d).

Hope this makes sense.

Best regards

Neill Jones

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Change layout but don't save the layout
2. Restart the editor - the changed layout opens up despite not having saved it (expected behaviour)
3. Create a new window - doesn't use the layout I can see - unexpected behaviour

Found out how to add screenshots here so these are the same as on the appcelerator site.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the "stalebug" whiteboard tag.
