Having git submodule support would be nice to have, avoiding flaws and pitfalls which submodules bring would be even better. See John's post for more details.

According to the latest comment on the blocking bug (bug 314853, comment 35), support for submodules in JGit is planned for February next year. This makes it unlikely to be part of Orion 0.4. I'll be checking pulse on that bug in case they speed up and add the support earlier.

I will have a look at it in .5, so there is enough time for the new feature in JGit to cool down. I'm sure Kevin will feel more comfortable without feeling my breath on his neck ;)

This is not in the .5 plan anymore. The support in JGit is ready, but there is no time to work on that in Orion.

First patches for this have been pushed.

These changes add support for listing sub modules in the Repository drop down and to show repositories with detach HEAD (common when using submodules).
