Description torsten CLA 2011-10-20 05:27:10 EDT
Build Identifier: 3.659 and 3.452

I am working on a Windows 2008, 64-bit Terminal Server.
Frequently I am using Birt-designer version 2.6.2 and a home-made rcp-application using rcp 3.4 (I have extracted the swt version numbers from this applications).

About daily the application stops responding, and the server crashes with a blue-screen. Other workmaids use this application too, and it never crashes; but I have not found out any differences.

So I have analyzed the minidump and found birt.exe crashing my server in the function call xxxRealDrawMenuItem(). There is a vulnerability documentated at http://www.symantec.com/security_response/vulnerability.jsp?bid=42250 so I think I am hitting this problem.

I do not know if this can be solved the one or other way; but this post is also to re-port and make aware of this problem. I do not yet know, if there is a patch or hotfix available, but I will post my result here.

Reproducible: Sometimes

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the "stalebug" whiteboard tag.
