For JavaDB embedded connection is not released. I cannot connect with my app or SQLExplorer until I close eclipse+DTP SQLExplorer has similar problem. I have Groovy script that acquires SQL connection and it does not hog the connection after it is terminated - DTP can connect to the same DB. But not the other way around - once DTP connects to JavaDB no one else can even if I close DTP connection.
