*setting Eclipse version to 3.7.1*

Note that I did not see the problem using RH5.3, so this is likely highly gtk-version dependent...

Do you get this problem if you just go 'File > Open File...'?

Thanks for looking into this, Remy! :)

I've tried reproducing this with a bunch of other tasks, like
- File->Open File
- Preferences -> Target Platform -> Add
- Import -> Archive File

, none of them shows the deadlock in my environment. Double checked my original steps, export archive still does get stuck, 100% of the cases...

Odd, I would have expected this to fail.

Just confirming:
You can reproduce this problem running Eclipse 3.7.1 on RH5.6 and 5.7, is that correct ?

Does the problem happen with a clean workspace ?
Do you have any extra plugins installed on Eclipse ?

confirmed,
- the issue is 100% reproducable
- I used a fresh Eclipse, extracted from eclipse-SDK 3.7.1 right before the test
   - fresh Workspace and Config Area
- no extra plug-ins were installed

Did you have trouble reproducing on your end?

Arun, did you have the change to try to reproduce this bug ?
Comment 12 Eric Williams CLA 2018-05-14 14:09:27 EDT
I can't reproduce this issue on my Fedora 28 box, but RHEL5 isn't supported any longer. Please re-open this ticket if the issue persists.
