Description Wayne Beaton CLA 2011-10-04 12:20:41 EDT
Feedback on the new page has been entirely positive.

I'd like to suggest that we use the automatically-generated project summary/info page as the default website for new projects.

This will make things a little easier for new projects; they just have to set up a little project metadata in the portal (which they have to do anyway) and they're off to the races.

Once the project is established (or whenever), a project can build as sophisticated a customized page as they'd like.

The one wrinkle that I can think of (for now) is that I can't figure out a way to consistently redirect to the right project summary page without actually customizing the index.php file (which means that webmaster would have to do this when they create the project). I'm not sure how big a deal this is.

The index.php looks like this:

--
<?php
header("Location: http://www.eclipse.org/projects/project.php?id=your.project.id");
?>
--

This might be a good opportunity to also provide a default description.html file; I can provide the contents at provisioning time.

Could this work?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

This has been the default behaviour for a while.
