Build Identifier: 20110916-0149 When the Remote System Explorer perspective is opened and the a remote terminal is opened, only the default color option is available. Its a missing feature i believe. The foreground text color/ Background color are fixed. there ought to be an option to toggle the background color from Dark<->Light and Light<->Dark. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open eclipse 2.Open remote system explorer perspective. 3.connect to a terminal and choose launch terminal.
What about Window > Preferences > Terminal : Invert Terminal Colors This works nicely in the Terminal widget (Window > Show View > Terminal). For some reason, it does not currently work in the RSE Terminals view. Would this provide what you need?
Created attachment 204506 [details] Options JPEG Currently no such option is available to invert colors. If you are proposing to add one such option, then you are right. Thats what is needed. Some option to choose the Foreground Color and BackGround color has to be provided.
Well the option has been there for several years, but it's associated with the standalone terminal which you apparently haven't installed. You can install it from the simulataneous release repository (Indigo, Helios, or Galileo) from the "Mobile and Device Development" category, it's called "Target Management Terminal". Is this an acceptable workaround for you, until an "invert" option gets available for the integrated RSE terminal ?
I think that this actually depends on bug 265352, which requires adding API... today, only the terminal.ui is capable of changing the terminal fonts and colors, but not the rseterminal.
This is now fixed with bug 378691 - the "Terminal" Preference page for inverting colors now also works in the RSE Terminal.
