When changing the R4E preference page, it is currently possible to leave the e-mail empty for the specified user.  This generated a null pointer fixed in Bug 359750.
We need a validation here to make sure the e-mail is either validated or at least not empty, so the smtp connector can send an e-mail to the destination user
