Description Wayne Beaton CLA 2011-10-03 13:05:41 EDT
This directory contains dozens (hundreds) of articles. It's 113MB in CVS. Is that considered big?

It'd be nice if we could make it easier for somebody to make contributions to their own articles, but is it too much to expect an author to replicate a 113MB repository?

I loathe to make a single repository for each article.

Don't forget git compresses stuff... If your articles are in text, or PDF, the repo size should be relatively small.

Is it realistic to target moving this directory from CVS to Git in the week following EclipseCon? i.e. let's use this as the test case; the rest of the EF-maintained sites will cascade from there.
Comment 3 Denis Roy CLA 2012-03-23 14:03:33 EDT
It sure is .. but first we'd need to resolve bug 359737 comment 3.
Comment 4 Wayne Beaton CLA 2012-06-13 15:50:53 EDT
The articles directory has been migrated to /gitroot/www.eclipse.org/articles.git

Now what? Can you set up a job to push/pull to the website from here?

Should we configure the CVS directory to be read-only?

/articles has been migrated and the website is now updating from the Git repository. Declaring victory!
