Description abrahamz CLA 2011-10-02 09:55:08 EDT
Build Identifier: 20110916-0149

I was not able to install development plugin for Android.
I got the error message: missing requirement org.maven.ide.eclipse. The error happens regardless of my effort to add the plugin from "local" or over the Internet with URL: https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/, or http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/ (via https, or just http).

The full error message is:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software currently installed: Shared profile 1.0.0.1316138547364 (SharedProfile_epp.package.java 1.0.0.1316138547364)
Missing requirement: Shared profile 1.0.0.1316138547364 (SharedProfile_epp.package.java 1.0.0.1316138547364) requires 'org.maven.ide.eclipse [1.0.100.20110804-1717]' but it could not be found

Thanks for any information you can share.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Help
2.Install new software
3.Add
4.Provide any text for "Name"
5.Above URL for "Location" or click "Local" and provide proper values.

The current workaround consists in downloading an eclpise install that does not contain m2e, make the install read only and later on add it.

This happens here too on Linux with 3.7.1

So building a shared install with m2e installed appears to break all future plugin installation for users...

Pascal is there a workaround (other than requiring each user to install m2e into their local cascaded config)?

Is this a duplicate of: Bug 350645 / Bug 351906 ?
Comment 4 Pascal Rapicault CLA 2012-04-29 01:24:17 EDT
As James mentionned this is a duplicate of bug #350645 that has been fixed in SR2.
