Description Victor Homyakov CLA 2011-09-16 08:33:59 EDT
Synchronize view remembers in "Synchronize SVN" button only the very last "Synchronize with repository" operation.

When working simultaneously with two or more projects it will be much comfortable to remember some list of recent synchronizations, then switching between recent synchronizations can be made in two clicks in the same view. Currently it requires switching to other view (Navigator or Project Explorer), right-clicking on project, selecting menu entry Team -> Synchronize with repository.

Hello Alexander,

I found this older bug which also affects me. I noticed that synchronizations are dropped when there are two many in the list. My workaround: Pinned synchronisations are kept.

Will this issue be corrected because it is quite confusing.

Thanks, Jörg

Hello Jörg,

The "Pin" button exists exactly for the sole reason of preserving a list of syncronizations and unpinned ones should be forgotten when Eclipse is restarted. I've seen it in somewhere in the documentation too.

P.S.
Also the Pin button and synchronization's lifecycle management both are done by the Team Component.

P.P.S.
If I misunderstood the main idea of this report, please correct me.

OK, so if I want Eclipse to remember more unpinned synchronisations I should probably retarget this ticket to the Platform Team component.

But you may be right: Pinning means remember for ever instead of caching for an unforeseeable time.

OK for me to close as WORKSFORME or reassign to Team component.

Now that I think about it, it is not just Synchronize View that works with pins, there are also Search View, History View and may be more. Although there is a slight difference in case of Search View: it'll add unpinned views (and not replace them) until Eclipse IDE restart. They won't be added permanently though. Is this the enhancement you wanted? If so, it looks reasonable: the same function should work in the same way for all the views that are using it. And that may actually be a useful enhancement for many people.

So, if it is what you're talking about, then I'll move this report to the team component.

OK, if unpinned means that the view is removed on restart and I could as many views as I want to (not limited to 5) then this is the feature I would like to see: Similar behaviour as for the Search view.

So please move it to the Team component. Thanks, Jörg

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got
resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some
reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it.
The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you
still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is
(for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the stalebug whiteboard tag.
