Currently, Images that were created with one of the Graphics#getImage() methods are not serializable and thus these methods cannot be used if the application is to run in a high-availablilty cluster.

For now, shared images will stay unserializable as it is difficult to implement and the API is likely to be deprecated (see bug 320928)
