It would be helpful to allow the Console output view to have a word-wrap toggle. Currently, one must scroll back and forth and/or resize the view to see Console output. This feature could be made available on the Console view's context menu (right-click). Thank you for considering this request.
There is a preference page to controll the console width (Debug > Console). We use a fixed width console currently, as previously, the implementation of word wrap was not efficient enough to keep up with programs that produced a large amount of output.
Reconsider word-wrap support in 3.0

It doesn't need to be word-wrapped. Just wrapping at a fixed character width is fine - but it should determine that width automatically as the Console View is moved/resized.

As of now 'LATER' and 'REMIND' resolutions are no longer supported. Please reopen this bug if it is still valid for you.
Hello, I can't seem to re-open this bug. Can someone with the necessary Bugzilla rights please re-open this? One of the previous commenters said: "[Eclipse] should determine that width automatically as the Console View is moved/resized". Apparently this "width auto-detection" has not been implemented yet (at least not in Galileo), so the original bug report / feature request is still valid (unless this bug is fixed in later Eclipse versions that I haven't tested). Thanks Oliver
Re-opening. Note that no one is currently working on this feature. A contribution would be welcome.

This one has a lot of friends. Note an implementation contributed in bug 287303.
I like the work done in bug 287303. Why has it never considered and marked as duplicate of this one?
Bug 287303 is newer, but has a patch so it should be the only open duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 287303 ***
