"Welcome to Eclipse" on the welcome page is displayed LTR.
"Eclipse" should be on the left.
See attached screen shot.

Dear dev team, would you please let us know the progress or plan for this defect?

Dear Gaby, since the turn around time for fix defects is so short in this release, I suggest this defect to be deferred and the fix will be evaluated in the future release. Thank you for your understanding!

Comment 9 John Arthorne CLA 2011-11-18 11:02:52 EST
The code for this lives in org.eclipse.platform, but I have no idea how to fix this. The externalized text is found in org.eclipse.platform/plugin.properties:

productIntroTitle = Welcome to Eclipse

Is there a marker that has to go into the localized version of this file to indicate RTL positioning? What does the Hebrew/Arabic string look like for productIntroTitle?
Comment 10 Remy Suen CLA 2011-11-18 11:09:15 EST
Another question to ask would be how is the text being drawn on the screen? I'm not familiar with how 'Welcome' is written but is it rendered by HTML and JavaScript or is it actually pure SWT?
Comment 11 John Arthorne CLA 2011-11-18 11:32:59 EST
It is rendered as an HTML <span>.

org.eclipse.ui.internal.intro.impl.html.IntroHTMLGenerator#generateIntroTitle

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the "stalebug" whiteboard tag.
