In the Eclipse help system, if there is a typo in the query nothing will be found, for instance nothing will be found for "Runing external tool" ("n" instead of "nn"): <http://help.eclipse.org/indigo/index.jsp?tab=search&searchWord=Runing%20external%20tool>. It would be nice to have something like Google's "Did you mean" feature: <http://www.google.com/search?q=Runing%20external%20tool> to get a hint if the query probably contains a typo.
This functionality can be achieved using the new search processor extension point added in 3.7 - see Bug 320669 for details. To implement a 'did you mean' type effect, you would need to have a dictionary of terms available to compare against, and then you could use the search processor to suggest alternate terms.
Lucene 3.x has support for this: http://wiki.apache.org/lucene-java/SpellChecker

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. If the bug is still relevant, please remove the "stalebug" whiteboard tag.
