Description Tobias Oberlies CLA 2011-09-02 07:59:41 EDT
The slicer already supports overriding the greedy property. I would like to have the same functionality for the projector.

This feature is needed for build systems like Tycho, which use p2 for dependency resolution: During compilation, one wants by default all optional runtime dependencies to be present on the class path. In the p2 metadata, optional runtime dependencies result in a non-greedy dependencies - so if we could force them to greedy, the planner would give the right result (see bug 351842).

A second use case is the always non-greedy director/profile, which would be a possible solution of bug 351420.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the "stalebug" whiteboard tag.
