Description Ansgar Radermacher CLA 2011-08-31 10:02:58 EDT
It would be practical to show the qualified name of a selected element in form of a tooltip within the model-explorer. This is practical, since it's often not evident where a type of of an attribute for instance comes from.

This sounds like a good usability idea. Today (0.10.0)I see blank tooltips everywhere.
Comment 2 Camille Letavernier CLA 2013-09-13 04:44:17 EDT
In 0.10.0, the tooltip is used to display validation messages (And is empty when there is no error)

We could add the qualified name on the first line.
Comment 3 Ronan Bar CLA 2013-09-13 04:58:02 EDT
There should never be an empty tooltip in my opinion. If there is no information then there should be no tooltip.
Comment 4 Ansgar Radermacher CLA 2013-09-16 08:49:27 EDT
I agree that we should not show a tooltip with an empty message. This is fixed with commit 0f99d18c83809646f6eda93021859f5531910e80 for the 0.10-maintenance.

With respect to the actual bug: do you think that it should be made customizable, or would it be ok, if the qualifiedName is always shown in case of a named element?
Comment 5 Camille Letavernier CLA 2013-09-16 09:32:41 EDT
If we move to EMF Facet 0.2 (Which is planed in a near future, most likely for Luna), we will have support for custom tooltips in the ModelExplorer configuration. Until then, you should just hard-code them.

This has been fixed with commit e52ee3ba9991f5ef0f0252b6a227c983d8f74f27 on the master.
