The main EDT page ( http://www.eclipse.org/edt/ ) is typically the first page new users will see, so its important that they can instantly understand what the technology is and what it means to them, how to get started, and where to get more help. Need to consider adding the following: 1) "Getting started" section (overview, download, tutorial) -- like Google App Engine (http://code.google.com/appengine/) 2) Screen shots with descriptions of key features (Dojo widget editing in VE, debugger, EGL source editor, deployment?) 3) Updated overview text - why somebody should consider EGL with high-level benefit bullets - see http://code.google.com/appengine/ . Consider adding FAQ link here or "Discovery why" - type page (see http://code.google.com/appengine/whyappengine.html ) 4) Some kind of "Looking to extend EDT???" -- point to all the areas of extension 5) "Get Involved" section on right - Follow us on twitter, Post to the forum, Open a bug or enhancement request, Contribute 6) Watch and Learn on right - with thumbnail to Hello World video Other things to consider adding: 1) "Dive Deeper" section - links to more advanced docs, blogs, etc 2) Link to "Release Plan" doc - http://www.eclipse.org/projects/project-plan.php?projectid=tools.edt 3) Embed Twitter feed (once it's useful) .. also show Twitter stats (number of followers, etc) 4) Logos of contributing vendors
changed from a critical defect to a Priority 1 enhancement, as this is not a code defect.
