I propose that the "includes incubating components" message on the downloads page be made a little less prominent. i.e. move this text out of the link and onto the line below between the actual link and the download count message, using the same font as the download count message. It couldn't hurt to include a link to what "incubation" means. I'm sure that this is confusing for a lot of users who come to our site just looking for an IDE to download.
Moving this to EPP as I believe its the packaging team that this is dependant on. IIRC this has some legal reasoning as to why we do this.
I believe that this bug belongs back in Community/Website since we control the content of that page. I believe that the legal issues are settled by including the statement on the line underneath the link. It doesn't have to be part of the link *text* itself. This bug is only intended to address the link text, not the actual file name. The actual file name is a separate issue that I agree should be addressed by the Packaging project.
Yepp, I believe I agree with Wayne - at least here and now ;-) It's all about the text of the link; if it makes sense we could include an incubation=true/false attribute in the XML that provides the package metadata instead of providing this information as part of the package name.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
Since there's been no complaints about this, I believe that it's a dead issue. Resolving as WONTFIX.
