Description thierry CLA 2011-08-20 04:22:25 EDT
Build Identifier: I20110613-1736

The line number border of the editor as an erratic drawing behavior.
This has been observed with
- Snow Leopard and 3.6.X
- Lion and 3.7

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a text editor in eclipse on a reasonably large document
2. Enable the line number in the preferences
3. Scroll very fast either with mouse gesture or dragging the scroller
There is no exception. It always fails to refresh properly

Do you have two monitors?

I can't reproduce on Windows 7 or Linux. Looks like a Mac specific issue.
Comment 3 thierry CLA 2011-08-22 11:27:49 EDT
The issue is indeed Mac specific. It happens in 3.6.X on Snow Leopard and 3.7 on Lion and Snow
Leopard.
Does not occur for me on XP and Linux.
The configuration use is a standard mob 2010. There is no external screen.
I added a new screen shot showing that the icons markers are also affected by the redraw.
Also it happens scrolling with the keyboard.
Last point, redrawing the screen (for example switch front window /application) refreshes it properly.

This problem in conjunction with 352990 makes eclipse pretty painful in lion and seriously
annoying on snow leopard.

I'm unable to reproduce this on my machine (Snow Leopard). Are you using 32 bit or 64 bit build?

64 bits. one supplemental advice to reproduce the problem fast. use reasonably sized files i.e. more than 1000 lines.

FWIW, I am getting this problem quite regularly too, but was never able to find what triggers it. 2011 macbook pro with "hires" screen, 10.6.8 osx, 64 bit indigo.

Same as Bug 321887. It also has the steps to reproduce the problem.
