If two edges are overlapping, and one of them is masking and above the other, the overlapping part of the "interesting" (unmasked) edge will also be masked. Not sure what to do about this.

I don't this this is really worth the huge amount of trouble that would *probably* be required to fix it but feel free to reopen.
