I keep wishing the details fields in the various stages of install/ update wizards were larger. For an example, see attachment 201457 [details] (from bug 350133): showing just one line doesn't really help in giving more explanations than the error at the top already does. Initially I thought this could be fixed by simply re-distributing available space, but perhaps each of the now empty areas will be crowded at times, too? In this particular dialog the area below the details field seems to be empty wasteland indeed. Perhaps we might just need a different gesture for viewing the details (a scrollbar in a one-line text is a pain to use :) Also the affordance for enlarging the area is hard to find (at least under KDE) and expanding the text into the above list is a bad trade, I want to see both :) How about some kind of button for expanding the details area? Maybe using a ">" at the left margin turning into a "v"? IMHO expanding the details area may well enlarge the dialog itself.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
This hasn't really improved: at normal dialog size I still only see one line of text, while space for several additional lines is unused below the details text field.
Yes, it's still kind of odd. There's another bug about the resize handle being too small. This one is kind of the same bug too: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=348301 Hopefully I'll have time to make some improvements. We shall see.
