I am working on a variant of AbstractWMLProposalProvider. I override a method to complete a part of my grammar, and I get an EObject as parameter. I convert that EObject "node" to a ICompositeNode. and I have the following code based on "node".

I've seen the code and you seem to be sure that the node given to the method: findLeafNodeAtOffset is an AbstractNode not an other variant.
