Hi,

I've set up the new eclipse version (indigo). With ADT plugin, phonegab and some other stuff for web app dev. ... in contrast to helios the cpu usage in indigo is 100-170% ... in idle ... i do nothing in eclipse ...

I have a Macbook pro early 2011 version (core i7, 4x 2.0 ghz, 4gb ram) ...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.launch eclipse indigo
Comment 1 benjamin.herzig CLA 2011-06-23 08:29:41 EDT
ah sorry I have to say that it never occurred in helios with a similar plugin setup

Do you have evidence that JDT UI is burning the cycles? Can you please attach some thread dumps?
Comment 3 benjamin.herzig CLA 2011-06-23 08:54:21 EDT
ehmm sorry for the bad categorization, I don't know if it has to do with the ui stuff ... from the begining I started eclipse jdt the cpu usage was very high ... with out any plugins ...

how can I get thread dumps of eclipse ?

Thread dump of Eclipse when CPU 100% for more than 30min

run with kill -3 <pid>
Comment 7 Adam Pullen CLA 2011-07-10 06:46:56 EDT
Hello,

Also had this problem with the "net.sf.redmine_mylyn.ui". Was fixed by using the "development" version of the UPDATE site.
See: (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3175794&group_id=228995&atid=1075435)

--HOWEVER--
I am still getting 100% CPU usage when Eclipse is just sitting there. Attached is the thread dump.

Is there anything else i.e. in eclipse can i see the "thread(s)" that are burning cycles?

It is sporadic and i have not managed to find a sequence to reproduce it.

If there is anything else that i can provide please just let me know

The event loop itself is idle and the running threads are from Android tooling.

Please report your bug there.
Comment 9 Shawn Lauzon CLA 2011-07-19 20:13:58 EDT
Huh, I just ran into the same exact thing. Too bad the OP never posted a link to a bug in the Android tooling. Guess I'll have to search there.
