Description arne anka CLA 2011-06-17 16:25:01 EDT
Build Identifier:

i try to acces the eclipse sdk api doc in a manner similar to the one for java.
but apparently there's only
http://help.eclipse.org/helios/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse.platform.doc.isv/reference/api/index.html
which suffers from a bunch of flaws:
- uses javascript
- the js used makes opera use too much cpu
- in opera the "maxmize" button is not available
- there's that "contents" area to the left, offering things i am absolutely not interested in
- trying to open the framed or non-framed version of the api docs inevitably punishes me by forcing all the stuff mentioned above on me

a simple, common java apidoc style w/o any "smart features" is not available

Reproducible: Always

See bug 165189 for the 'Maximize' button issue.

I don't think we will offer the API doc in a different way. As alternative you could download the doc and browse it locally without going through the Help Center.

seems bug 165189 originates from the same cause: display api doc w/o the helpcenter overhead.

Well, I have not seen any such comment in bug 165189.

It's part of the build.
