Description boB CLA 2011-06-13 10:48:32 EDT
Build Identifier: 3.5 but can't launch to see exact version

My Eclipse program was working fine for a long time, but now it will not launch. Just flashes on screen with no error and no error in the Event Viewer. Checked the Eclipse.ini file and dropped the size of Xmx to 256 and others, but no help.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Eclipse
2. Welcome Screen flashes and goes away
3.

Did you change the anything recently that would affect the JRE, such as install or uninstall a Java SDK, change JAVA_HOME or change your path? Did you see the splash screen appear? The OS is marked as Windows 7, is this the first time you have tried to run Eclipse on this machine?

Did you change the anything recently that would affect the JRE, such as install
or uninstall a Java SDK, change JAVA_HOME or change your path?
- I didn't uninstall anything or change the path. However, JRE might have done one of it's automatic updates.

Did you see the splash screen appear?
- For maybe 1/4 second and then it disappears.

The OS is marked as Windows 7, is this the first time you have tried to run Eclipse on this machine?
- No, it has been working for about a year now.

Thanx!

Update: I uninstalled Java, and then reinstalled the latest (26) and it seemed to work. Thanx for all your help.

Can you try running eclipse.exe from a CMD shell and see if any messages are output?

I missed your last comment when I replied, it looks like this is working now so I will close out this bug report.
