Description MrCompiler Mising name CLA 2011-06-12 09:58:58 EDT
Build Identifier:

There are numerous issues with the installation of the RCP/RAP bundle for 3.6.2. There are a large number of duplicate files reported in the install and eclipse.exe will not launch and displays the following error:

the Eclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library

My SR1 installation is still working normally.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download the 3.6.2 Eclipse distribution for RCP/RAP developers Windows 32
2. Run the installation binary and install to a new directory
3. Observe multiple duplicate file warnings, reply 'Yes to All' for overwrite
4. Launch eclipse.exe and observe the error message

file listing RCP package Helios SR2

The attached file contains a listing of *all* files that are included in the download ZIP archive eclipse-rcp-helios-SR2-win32.zip. My guess is that there is something wrong with the file that you downloaded or with the way you were extracting it on Windows.

The exact number of bytes of the file eclipse-rcp-helios-SR2-win32.zip is 198303601 and there are checksum files available. If you open http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-rcp-and-rap-developers/heliossr2 you will find them on the right-hand side.

If the download file isn't corrupt, then it could be the Windows unzip utility or a problem with the filesystem path length. Or did you unzip the SR2 version on top of your SR1?

A number of other problems are described on the wiki:

The MD5 checksums matched so presumably the downloaded file was intact and was put into its own directory ( I've been using Eclipse long enough to know to keep the last working version since the new one might not... ) I can verify the file system path length.
