The dialog that appears when you do Help>About>Installation Details should show the EDT features when they're installed. For some reason, it doesn't. This was first reported by Will Smythe in comment 6 of bug 348297.
Justin says this is because our feature doesn't have a "branding" plugin. He referred me to RBD's com.ibm.etools.egl.feature and com.ibm.etools.egl.feature.branding (in the Core component of RTC). http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/library/os-ecfeat/ looks like a good reference. I'd like to contribute a button for EDT to the About dialog.
At some point, I think we'll want a branding plug-in - assuming I understand the concept correctly - since we'll want our own icon on the window, splash screen (I think), etc. We'll need a standalone EGL IDE build (like the other language IDEs) in time for 0.7 -- I'll open a requirement for this.
Moving to I9 because I'm still waiting for a 32x32 pixel version of the EGL logo.
Sorry Will but this didn't get done in I10 because of other, higher-priority work, and all the planning and sizing.
Has a 32x32 logo been made available yet?
Created attachment 206623 [details] the 32x32 icon Here's the icon. I thought I had attached it to this bug, but maybe I attached it to the wrong one. Oh well...
I've added a branding plug-in org.eclipse.edt.feature.branding.
Verified in last night's build. Looks spiffy.
