Description Severin Gehwolf CLA 2011-05-28 14:30:55 EDT
Looking at http://www.gitorious.org/opensuse/spec-cleaner/ it would be nice if the spec-file editor supported some spec-file clean-up actions. For example, turning $RPM_BUILD_ROOT into %{buildroot} would be useful.

I'd envision something like right-click => clean-up spec. What do you think?
Comment 1 Andrew Overholt CLA 2011-05-30 08:45:27 EDT
This would be a great feature.
Comment 2 Alexander Kurtakov CLA 2011-05-30 09:02:41 EDT
I'm still not sure what else should be added.
Removing BuildRoot?
Removeing %clean?
Removing rm -fr buildroot from beginning of install?
Do we want to limit to rpm 4.7+ users (I would say yes!)
Please give some more details about the things you have in mind.
Comment 3 Andrew Overholt CLA 2011-05-30 09:07:43 EDT
I worry we're making it too Fedora-specific but I guess if the changes are in RPM upstream, it's not a big deal. /me is not looking forward to rpm5.org users complaining :)
Comment 4 Alexander Kurtakov CLA 2011-05-30 09:14:39 EDT
That's my main problem though forcing rpm.org users to update seems reasonable to me :). And this cleanup action will be smth like the java5ify type of plugins that were doing things assuming you are using java 5 and you run it on your own risk.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

No plans for this one. If there is any work it should be done in some common tool like rpmlint rather than implement as part of this project.
