Description Oyvind Harboe CLA 2011-05-27 03:04:25 EDT
Build Identifier: 20110218-0911

This now happens every time I open the workspace, so the workspace has been poisoned somehow. I'll leave this workspace around in case I can do some more testing.

I'm editing a C++ project, no build or indexing and I'm having a problem that Eclipse just exist with a dialog box with the Java launch options. I've got 2048mByte of Java heap. The project is ca. 27000 files.

It happens relatively quickly(every 10 minutes or so when I work), bit of a trainwrecker for using Eclipse. Hopefully I can switch from Windows 7 64 bit to Linux, perhaps it works there.

Reproducible: Always

Which JVM are you using? Is there maybe a file "hs_err_pid<pid>.log" in the eclipse installation?

The crash log looks a little strange, but I think this is the same hot spot bug as reported in bug 333227.
Could you try the workaround mentioned in bug 333227 comment 7:
Add -XX:-UseCompressedOops to eclipse.ini

I've added an extra line to eclipse.ini:

-XX:-UseCompressedOops

and Eclipse now starts and the seems to work.

I'm excited! Perhaps I can navigate this code in a sane fashion afterall!
