The git status messages are a mix of a user-oriented instructions (go to the repositories page) and git server status (FAST_FORWARD). There was another bug talking about the fact that the server statuses probably shouldn't reference client UI. I agree with that, but the server-side messages are not always understandable either. In the screenshot, I did a merge and I got an info status with "FAST_FORWARD". Maybe most git people know that means success, but I was wanting to see something reporting success, like "You are now up to date."
I'm in favor of changing the git status messages. I think it's time for us to change the non descriptive messages like "OK" or "FAST_FORWARD" to something more meaningful and user friendly. Not to mention, way more cool.
