If maintaining both RCP and IDE applications, there is a lot of work needed to support two separate generated editors. In practice it is often necessary to define customizations in both editors and there is a lot of indirection involved in maintaining dependencies for both. Looking at the generation it seems that the major differences are just in marker support and resource notification. I note that dependencies might be a bit problematic in that the IDE version assumes presence of problem view. But this might be managed by a separate pluggable marker manager. Another idea is simply to support a common base editor that could be customized for RCP, IDE and (this would be very cool) RAP support.
