Looking at http://eclipse.org/projects/tools/ip_contribution_review.php?id=tools.tm under Recommendations it lists this bugzilla attachment: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/attachment.cgi?id=57928&action=edit which was attached by Javier Montalvo Orus on 31-Jan-2007. But Javier Montalvo became a TM committer on 4-Aug-2006: http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/dsdp-tm-dev/msg00375.html So this is a false positive. Maybe because Javier Montalvo no longer is a committer as of today (he resigned approx 2 years ago)?
Another example -- the tool recommends flagging https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/attachment.cgi?id=123422 attached by Anna Dushistova in Jan 2009. But Anna became a committer in 2007: http://dash.eclipse.org/dash/commits/web-app/summary.cgi?type=y&year=x&top=tools&project=tools.tm&login=adushistova I'm flagging this as iplog- for now but it would be much better if the tool knew when a committer became a committer.
Javier's email address in the Foundation database is different from his Bugzilla ID. For the mapping between the Bugzilla entries and the Foundation database two work (i.e. for us to be able to determine that the contributor is an Eclipse committer), these need to be the same. Can you ask Javier to synchronize these accounts? FWIW, I've already noted that we need a better process for this.
Anna's credentials also do not match. We (the EMO) have to do a better job of making sure these stay synchronized. I'll ponder how we do that.
Thanks, Wayne, for investigating. Both Javier and Anna changed jobs after becoming a committer. Their bugzilla E-Mail can be considered correct. I assume they haven't been able (or haven't been notified how to) update their Foundation DB E-Mail. What should the next step be to get Javier and Anna's addresses in sync? On another note, I know that some people use "dummy inbox" mail addresses specifically for bugzilla only, to reduce spam. So perhaps having the Foundation DB hold both a real E-Mail and a bugzilla ID might make sense.
(In reply to comment #4) > On another note, I know that some people use "dummy inbox" mail addresses > specifically for bugzilla only, to reduce spam. So perhaps having the > Foundation DB hold both a real E-Mail and a bugzilla ID might make sense. I agree. This is on our list.
We are assembling a major reworking of our infrastructure. During that reworking, we will be consolidating authentication in LDAP which I believe will make this problem disappear. I will be open bugs to track that effort in the coming days and weeks. In the meantime, we are stuck with the current implementation that requires that the bugzilla and foundation contact email addresses be the same. Have you been able to address this for Javier and Anna? Can we close this bug?
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
Accounts should all now be synchronised. Further, we've deprecated this functionality since it basically has no value after we've adopted the use of Git. I'm marking this as WONTFIX.
