Description Radoslaw Jozwik CLA 2011-05-25 09:51:38 EDT
Build Identifier: M20110210-1200

When I bind some action to (for example) Ctrl+Alt+l then clicking on Alt+l will also activate this action. This behaviour disallows writing certain national characters inside Eclipse editor which are normally activated with Alt+<something> key binding.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Bind Ctrl+Alt+l key to "About" command.
2. Open any text editor and hold down Alt+l key.
3. "About" window will show up.

I forgot to mention that in this case I'm using right Alt (Alt Gr) and that Subversive is by default using such conflicting key bindings.

I can not duplicate it with either 3.6.2 or 3.7.

Can you try with a regular keyboard on a clean setup?

I cannot reproduce either.

Probably both of you don't use system with polish keyboard layout. I've tested this on clean Eclipse install (eclipse-SDK-3.6.2-win32.zip without any additional plugins) and I can reproduce this problem. Currently only workaround I have for this is to unbind all conflicting key bindings.

Digging a little more I've tested other apps like Gimp (works as expected) and VLC (has similar problem - I can't bind Ctrl+Alt+l or any other special characters like Ctrl+Alt+s, Ctrl+Alt+e). I can try to test other Java based desktop apps if this will help you.

Tomek, maybe one of you has a Polish keyboard and can confirm this?

I20110523-0800: After I've set the binding as in comment 0, and pressed Right Alt + L the dialog popped out (not expected).

Can you check whether it is a regression?
Comment 8 Tomasz Zarna CLA 2011-05-27 06:51:11 EDT
I've checked 3.6.0 (I20100608-0911) and 3.4.0 (I20080617-2000) and I'm still able to reproduce.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the "stalebug" whiteboard tag.
