Description Kai-Uwe Maetzel CLA 2003-03-11 10:55:18 EST
RC2

- open a text editor
- the text widget is drawn with the focus ring around it separating the text widget from the
vertical ruler of the left and the overview ruler of the right
-> These three widget form a logical unit. Thus, the focus ring should be around all three.

Comparing the usage of the focus ring between eclipse and other Mac apps, eclipse
seems to have a unique understanding of where to use the focus ring. Eclipse uses it for
each widget that can accept focus. Other Mac apps use it only for indicating input fields in
dialogs and forms or semantically equivalent ui elements such as the search input field
in the main window of iTunes. I haven't found a example where the focus ring is drawn
around trees or tables or even around a whole text editor.
