Build Identifier: M20110210-1200 Since I installed a 64bit version on my Ubuntu 11.04 (64bit), I got some crashes in my IDE with apparently no reason at all. Thanks Reproducible: Sometimes

this is not the first time I see a crash in Java_org_eclipse_swt_internal_gtk_OS_GTK_1ACCEL_1LABEL_1GET_1ACCEL_1STRING+0x0 the stacktrace in bug 173822 is very similar to the one in this bug. bug 200993 also crashes calling GTK_1ACCEL_1LABEL_1GET_1ACCEL_1STRING

Bogdan, Silenio. Do you know about this problem ?

I have exactly the same problem unfortunately and get the same crash on my Ubuntu 11.04 x64 installation with Eclipse 3.6.2. I had other issues (glitches, even crashes) before which I solved by installing xulrunner-1.92. However this random crash remains.
This bug looks like rather Ubuntu team responsibility. Does anybody know the link to the appropriated issue in Ubuntu bug tracking system?

Arun, can you please take a look at this problem ?
If you need more data from crashes, I uploaded 4-5 javacore crashes from my environment and they are attached to Bug 353055.

While I'm taking a look at these crash dumps, can you confirm which version of Linux and Java you are running on and whether it is a 64-bit/32-bit platform? Thanks!
My Linux environment is 32-bit Ubuntu 11.04 with Gnome 3 installed. I use the IBM Java SDK 1.6 SR9FP1 to run Eclipse.

I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 64bit Linux 2.6.38-10-generic and Java 1.6.0_26 (sun-java6 ubuntu packages).
Same problem here: Eclipse: 3.7 OS: Ubuntu 11.04 x64 Java version: OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.10.2) (6b22-1.10.2-0ubuntu1~11.04.1) Xorg: Driver "nvidia"

We have released some guard code around the offending area to be extra sure that the object we are getting from the GtkBin is 1) not null and 2) an instance of GtkAccelLabel. I have never come across this crash on my Ubuntu 11.04 x64 so I'm not sure if these steps will solve the problem. Please let us know if you come across this again in any builds > 20110805. Thanks!
the change bog has released: http://git.eclipse.org/c/platform/eclipse.platform.swt.git/commit/?id=ea9da011382c7ec93bcd569f034b6dd753cfdd96
I have tried the latest version (at least I think I did it). The version is 3.7.1 and build id is: M20110810-0800. Unfortunately, it is still crashing. I have attached the java error log.

Ths fix went into the 3.8/4.2 stream and not the maintenance stream. Can you please give the following build a try and let me know if you still seeing the problem: http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/I20110816-0800/index.php Thanks!
Created attachment 201827 [details] another crash log with slightly different native lib involved I attached another crash log that we got reported from an Ubuntu user that might be related to this. There is another native call involved, but maybe the same problem?
Also any chance to get the fix into 3.7.1? That would be really fantastic!!!
I can put this into 3.7.1, but it would be great if someone could confirm that the fix released in HEAD actually helped. Martin, that crash seems to be caused by a different issue.
> I can put this into 3.7.1, but it would be great if someone could confirm that > the fix released in HEAD actually helped. Yepp, agree. I will try to ask our user to give this a try, since I am not on Linux. > Martin, that crash seems to be caused by a different issue. Should I add a new bugzilla entry for that?
I am currently testing this version since the 18th (last Thursday): http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/I20110816-0800/index.php So far no problem, but it would be better to wait a little more before confirming the problem is not here anymore. The problem was appearing really randomly on my PC (not a single one in a week and then two in a day).
I've put the code in the 3.7.1 stream and it should be in last week's RC2 3.7.1 build. I'm going to mark this as FIXED. Please reopen if you come across this again. Thanks!

Hi, I encounter quite the same issue with Eclipse 3.7.1. I can reproduce it. I posted on the forum: http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/271004/ Do you think it is really the same issue or another? If the same, it seems that I can reproduce it everytime so i can help to fix the issue by testing. If not, I will open a new bug. Regards,
