Hi,

I am using big C/C++ project. Every time I open C/C++ index view and expanding C/C++ elements freezes eclipse for about ~1 minute. I attached jstack output which was taken every second interval.

Thanks,
Yevgeny

Reproducible: Always

The index view is at best usable for debugging purposes. It is poor in many aspects, you have observed the most important one.
The view has always been that way and I strongly recommend not to use it.

Does that mean this is a WONTFIX?

In my opinion, if "index view" is not for general public usage, it should not be available by default.

Opening it causes eclipse to stuck in many cases. It makes very bad impression about eclipse CDT product.

Maybe it should not be available unless configured explicitly in workspace configuration with warning that it can cause very serious performance issues and not advised to be used.
