Description Uwe Stieber CLA 2011-05-15 10:36:56 EDT
For Common Navigator based views, like the TM Target Explorer sub project (org.eclipse.tm.te.*), it is highly desired to re-use the existing New/Import/Export extension points and UI infra-structure, like the "New" wizard dialog as much as possible. Unfortunately, it is not possible to open the "New" wizard dialog (via ActionFactory.New or ActionFactory.NewDropDown) with a active part filter, meaning that only New/Import/Export wizard relevant for the current part are presented to the user. For the TM Target Explorer in example, it deals with remote targets, not workspace resources, therefor any workspace resource creation wizard like new project or new file are confusing, if opened in the context of the TM Target Explorer. The same is true for opening the wizard in the context of the project explorer. The TM Target Explorer New/Import/Export wizard should not be presented to the user in that context.

At the moment, the only way to achieve this is by duplicating almost everything of the New/Import/Export infra structure, as almost everything is in internal packages or even not visible (default visibility of involved classes), including the corresponding wizard extension points.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got
resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some
reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it.
The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you
still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is
(for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the stalebug whiteboard tag.
