Java perspective. Open a java editor (for example junit.framework.TestCase)
Press F4 to bring the hierarchy view.
Select a method (for example run())
The "Show source of selected element only" icon in the coolbaer becomes enabled.
Switch from the hierarchy view to the package explorer view. The same method is
selected. Note that "show source of selected element only" is no longer enabled
though.

This is the current activation behaviour.
Post 2.1 we can look into retargeting more editor actions in Java views.

I added bug 20155 as dependend because it is about the same problem.
