It would be great if Mylyn notifications could use the GNOME 3 notification system when it's available.  One can see the system at work in this video:

I'm pretty sure that almost every gnome library supports introspection. One should be able to generte the binding using JGIR https://live.gnome.org/JGIR though jgir needs more work before being used.

I believe using libnotify (would require some sort of binding) is probably the best way to go:

Close as wontfix. Such change should go into SWT.
