It seems as if Xtext tries to resolve a http URI in an ecore import.
It takes quite some time to get a time out and therefore the user experience is bad. I don't think we need ot support http URIs as resource URIs and should not try to load the model in that case.

Whenever people switch from generate to import ecore there are good chances they run into this.
