I think, that getting a model-driven development the wide spread is limited by weak opportunities to influence the generation process.
If we create a generation model with extendable (by other .ecore files) meta-model and transform it into templates then such generation will be controlled in more detail. Generation model may be inherited from domain model and contain terms like artifact (file, folder, package, project) and dependency.
